4. I’m not running a business, why have you sent me a Business Rates bill?

Business Rates is the term commonly used for Non-Domestic Rates (NDR). 

Rates are charged on the following:

  • most non-domestic premises - predominantly business properties - such as shops, offices, pubs, warehouses and factories, holiday rental homes or guest houses
  • non-business premises such as beach huts and car parking spaces.
    This is not an exhaustive list.
