Gas safety

If you?smell gas?in your home or your?carbon monoxide alarm goes off, follow these steps: 

  1. Open all windows and doors?to let fresh air in. 
  2. Turn off any gas appliances?(like cookers or heaters) and?leave the house?right away. 
  3. Don’t turn on lights or use any electrical switches. 
  4. If you can safely reach your?gas meter, turn off the gas using the?emergency control valve?(usually next to the meter). 
  5. Once you’re outside,?call Wales & West Gas Emergency Service?on?0800 111 999
  6. Do not go back inside?until it’s safe. 

If you feel?unwell?with symptoms like: 

  • Headaches 
  • Feeling dizzy 
  • Trouble breathing 
  • Feeling sick 

Get?medical help straight away.
