Gas safety
If you?smell gas?in your home or your?carbon monoxide alarm goes off, follow these steps:
- Open all windows and doors?to let fresh air in.
- Turn off any gas appliances?(like cookers or heaters) and?leave the house?right away.
- Don’t turn on lights or use any electrical switches.
- If you can safely reach your?gas meter, turn off the gas using the?emergency control valve?(usually next to the meter).
- Once you’re outside,?call Wales & West Gas Emergency Service?on?0800 111 999.
- Do not go back inside?until it’s safe.
If you feel?unwell?with symptoms like:
- Headaches
- Feeling dizzy
- Trouble breathing
- Feeling sick
Get?medical help straight away.
