Electrical safety checks

When a contractor comes to fix an electrical problem, they will also do a safety check. This is a thorough check and test of all the electrical systems in your home including smoke alarms and electric heaters. They will tell you what they need to inspect and which areas of your home they need to go into.

If they find anything dangerous or not up to standard, they will explain what work is needed. If a lot of work is required, they will try to make it as easy for you as possible.

Please note, if you don’t let them into your home, you are breaking your tenancy agreement.

You can find out more about our electrical safety checks by reading this leaflet.

If you have made changes to the electrics and have written permission from us, we will leave them in place as long as they are safe and meet current rules. If they are unsafe or don’t meet the rules, we will make them safe (if possible) or remove them.

You will not have to pay for the work unless the problem is caused by something you installed yourself or by misuse of our electrics.
