I need an adaptation in my home
If you find it hard to live in your home because of a disability or trouble moving around, we might be able to help by making some changes to your home.
Some small changes we can make include:
- Handrails and grab rails
- Taps that are easier to turn
Some bigger changes we can help with are:
- Stairlifts
- Showers you can walk into easily
- Ramps outside
- Making doorways wider
Who to contact for help
- For small changes like grab rails or easy-turn taps, email the team at?adaptations@eastdevon.gov.uk.
- If you’re an adult and you need a big change to your home, like a stairlift, a ramp outside, wider doorways, or a walk-in shower, please contact?Care Direct at Devon County Council?by calling?0345 155 1007. If needed, Care Direct can ask the person in charge of your area to help. They can tell you how to get assessed by an?occupational therapist, who will look at what changes you might need. The occupational therapist will write a report called a?statement of need. You’ll need to sign it and send it to us. Once we get it, we’ll decide if we can do the work and will write to you within 21 days to let you know.
