Your Home, Your Wellbeing
Over 1,500 people in East Devon took part in a survey about their homes and how they feel about life.
As expected, having a good home helps people feel happier. But we also found that people who are happy with their landlord feel less anxious and more positive overall.
The survey showed that social housing (homes provided by councils or housing associations) can actually improve wellbeing, better than private rented homes in many cases.
The study also showed that things like mental health, money worries (especially for women, families with children, and older people), cold homes, and noisy neighbours can affect how people feel.
The most important message is this: giving people homes isn’t just about buildings, it’s about helping people live better lives.
