InformationSpotlight on... dental care

National Smile Month is the UK’s largest and longest-running campaign to promote good oral health. It highlights three key messages which will help us develop and maintain a healthy mouth throughout our life:

  1. Brush your teeth last thing at night and on at least one other occasion with a fluoride toothpaste
  2. Cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks
  3. Visit your dentist regularly, as often as they recommend.

Find dentists services near you, showing contact details, customer ratings, and whether a practice is accepting new NHS patients.

The Peninsula Dental School is where students from Plymouth University study for a career in dentistry. Student dental carers (dentists, dental nurses, hygienists and therapists) are trained to the highest standards while providing free treatment to NHS patients. They also deliver community outreach programmes such as supervised teeth-brushing for young children. And they provide advice for dental emergencies such as severe toothache, an infection, or a damaged tooth.
