LED Community Leisure operates community-focused facilities to help everyone move towards their fitness ambitions. With 10 leisure centres across Devon and Somerset, LED offers indoor and outdoor sports, swimming, exercise and health, children’s play schemes, and educational programmes.

LED in the community works to support local groups and organisations with their health and wellbeing. Examples include Stroke Survivors activity sessions; Dementia Friendly groups; working with social prescribers to support people with long term health conditions.

East Devon Way: this walking route covers 40 miles of footpaths, leafy lanes, and bridleways through East Devon’s natural beauty - rivers, woodland, heathland, and valleys. Circular routes are available, or link routes that connect to the Southwest Coast Path and nearby villages.

Parkrun: each parkrun is a 5km run – or walk, every Saturday at 9:00am: nearest ones include Cranbrook parkrun, Exmouth parkrun, Seaton parkrun, Killerton parkrun. Free and open to everyone. Volunteer marshals support participants to complete the course at their own pace.

Ramblers Wellbeing Walks: find local group walks over easy terrain and open to everyone, especially aimed at people who are least active.  Volunteer walk leaders provide support and encouragement. For East Devon see Ramblers Wellbeing Walks East Devon

Devon

Active Devon’s website offers tools and features designed to offer fun, healthy and connected ways to get and stay active, including links to recommended free active apps. A good starting place whether you want to move more, or can provide a service that supports others to move more.

Cycle - Travel Devon offer cycle routes and maps, help and advice to get you on your bike. Cycling is fun, free and a fast way to travel. With miles of traffic-free trails across Devon, you can use the interactive cycle map to find a suitable route.

Online

Fitness Studio exercise videos: follow an instructor-led workout from the comfort of home. Try the NHS’s exercise videos, including aerobic exercises, strength and resistance training, pilates and yoga.

NHS Better Health Get Active Programme: tools and tips to help people move more every day, including links to free downloadable apps Couch to 5k and Active 10. Did you know that walking briskly and continuously for just 10 minutes counts as exercise? It's probably easier than you think to fit 10 minutes into your day.

Age UK – Being Active as you Get Older: what we’re able to do varies from person to person and can change as we get older. Age UK offers information on helping you to keep moving whatever your age, including videos to watch at home.

We are Undefeatable: when you’re managing a health condition, being active is about finding what works for you. This is a movement supporting and encouraging people with a range of long-term conditions to find ways to be active that work for them, find ideas and inspiration.
