InformationControl of Dogs Public Spaces Protection Order - Variation

The 2023 Control of Dogs Order was sealed in March 2023.

The Council were made aware of amendments that needed to be made and a two week public consultation was carried in October 2024.

The areas that were consulted on were as follows:

  • Kilmington Playing field – the 2023 Control of Dogs Order stated that dogs were required to be on a lead at Kilmington play area. We consulted on varying the order to require dogs to be kept on a lead at Kilmington playing field and dogs to be excluded from Kilmington play area.
  • Allhallows, Honiton – the 2023 Control of Dogs Order stated that dogs were excluded from the whole playing fields. We consulted on varying the order to require dogs to be excluded from the sports pitches only.

The majority of respondents who participated in the public consultation agreed to the amendments relating to Kilmington Playing field and Allhallows, Honiton.

The Cabinet meeting, which took place on 27 November 2024, resolved that the Order should be varied to include these amendments.
