By law you must tell within 21 days of any change that may affect your entitlement to a premium exception, discount, exemption. To falsely claim is a criminal offence and we may prosecute.

- the Council Tax account number for the property you want to claim for/cancel the premium exception. You can get this from the Council Tax bill
- the postcode and address of the property where you are applying for or cancelling the premium exception
- provide the following evidence, depending on the class of premium exception you are applying for:
1. Letter from commanding officer saying they have to live in an MOD property
2. Evidence that the property is an annexe
3. Website where advertised for let/sale
4. Evidence of the date that the property was first placed on the market for sale/let. If it has been remarketed, we will use the first date not the most recent .
5. Executors details
6. Letter from employer confirming that they are required to live elsewhere
7. Evidence that the property is a caravan/boat
8. Evidence that there is a planning restriction (planning reference number)
When we receive your completed form, we may need to visit to check whether you qualify.
- If you qualify for a premium exception, we will send you a revised bill.
- If you do not qualify, we will notify you by email, phone or letter.
- When we cancel your premium exception, we will send you a revised bill.
