Churchill play park equipment upgrades complete
We are pleased to share that the improvement works at Churchill Park are now complete.
The park now benefits from a new basket swing, a basketball hoop with a new surface, and a range of repairs and replacements to existing equipment. These include upgrades to the zip wire, with a new line and seat and replacement swing seats on the swing frame.
In addition to these improvements, the Dunkeswell Council was fortunate to successfully secure grant funding for a new climbing trail. We’re delighted to confirm that this equipment was installed in late November 2025, adding even more opportunities for fun and activity in the park.
Looking ahead, the Dunkeswell Parish Council will continue to seek further grant funding, with the aim of installing toddler-friendly equipment in this area.

Dunkeswell Parish Council determined that Churchill Park was in need of repairs. In response, they considered reallocating S106 funding from New Century Park at Highfield to Churchill Park, as the parish council believed that these funds could be used more effectively to improve Churchill Park.
As part of the consultation process, community feedback was sought to understand residents' views and preferences regarding the proposed reallocation. EDDC ran the consultation on behalf of Dunkeswell with it being hosted on commonplace. The consultation allowed Dunkeswell council to gather valuable insights into the community’s priorities and helped ensure that decisions were made in line with local needs.
