Get Advice, Support and Grants

If you’re unsure where to begin or need help navigating energy-saving options and grants, expert advice is just a phone call or email away. Also, there are several grant schemes that can help cover the cost of upgrading your home’s heating and insulation — many of which don’t need to be repaid. Check out some of the resources below to get you started.

  • ECOE Advice – Free Energy Advice & Support

Speak to an advisor from Exeter Community Energy (ECOE) for free energy advice and support with insulation, heating upgrades, and energy-saving tips.

  • Connected for Warmth – Air Source Heat Pump Grants

If you heat your home with electricity or oil and receive certain benefits, you may be eligible for a free air source heat pump. Check the full list of requirements and apply here: Air Source Heat Pump Eligibility | Connected for Warmth

  • Energy Saving Devon – Retrofit Planning

Energy Saving Devon have a range of tools including the Home Upgrade Plan Builder: Energy Saving Devon (planbuilder.co.uk), which will help you create a  plan for making your home more comfortable and cheaper to run.   • GOV.UK – Check Your EPC Rating

Checking your EPC rating can also give you a good idea of where to start, as it comes with useful recommendations on how to improve the energy efficiency of your property, and more: Find an energy certificate - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

  • GOV.UK – Boiler Upgrade Scheme

Through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme you could be eligible for a grant of up to £7 500, to cover part of the cost of replacing fossil fuel heating systems with a heat pump or biomass boiler.   • GOV.UK – Home Upgrade Grant

If you are a homeowner and don't use a gas boiler as your main heating system, then you could get free energy saving home improvements with the Home Upgrade Grant - check to see if you are eligible: Apply for help to improve a home with no gas boiler (Home Upgrade Grant) - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

  • Lendology – Retrofitting and Home Repairs

If you are a homeowner looking to make essential home repairs or install renewable energy, then you may be able to get a loan of up to £15 000 or more!   • ECO4 – Energy Efficiency Improvements

Another grant that you could be eligible for is ECO4, which provides funds to low-income households to make energy-efficient improvements, like insulation or new heating systems. Apply for Eco4 Funding - ECO4

  • HUG2 – Energy Efficiency Improvements

HUG2 might be the grant for you! It is open to households that are off-gas, have a total income of less than £31 000 and have an EPC D, E,F or G. Register your interest here: Devon County Council HUGs Application (jotform.com)
